Meltdown é uma banda do país Basco. Tocam um metal com fortes influências hardcore e uma grande componente melódica. Lançaram dois EP’S: MELTDOWN (2014) e I REFUSE TO DIE HERE (2016) antes de editarem o seu primeiro LP – FROM THIS DAY TO THE GRAVE.
O disco é composto por dez
temas e arranca com o poderoso tema, Rip Out my Eyes. As vocalizações são
francamente competentes, melódicas e furiosas como é característico deste
género, no entanto, o tema desdobra-se imprevisivelmente, oferece-nos uma atmosférica
e bela passagem instrumental que contrasta e complementa na perfeição a agressividade
predominante. A fúria persiste no tema seguinte, Just Run, sublinhada por riffs
poderosos e algo catchy que acompanham as vocalizações.
A capacidade de criar texturas
de guitarras amplamente melódicas, atmosféricas e catchy sem desvirtuar as
raízes do metal hardcore é continuada ao longo das dez músicas do álbum. As guitarras
estão a cargo de Mikel Amundarain e Julen Adariz.
Como referido anteriormente há
passagens atmosféricas e algo melancólicas criadas por malhas de guitarras como
é o caso do tema Love is Rage, Museu Ibiltaria (cantado em basco) e Poison Cliff.
As vocalizações a cargo de
Julen Sarasua são sólidas e emocionais sem serem genéricas como acontece em
algumas bandas do género.
É um disco de estreia bastante
coeso que anuncia uma banda interessante e criativa na cena do hardcore mais
metálico.

Meltdown is a band from the Basque
country. They play metal with strong hardcore leaning and a strong melodic component.
They released two EP’S, MELTDOWN (2014) and I REFUSE TO DIE HERE (2016) before
releasing their first LP, FROM THIS DAY TO THE GRAVE.
The album has ten songs and
kicks in with the powerful, Rip Out my Eyes. The vocals are competent, melodic
and furious as usual in this genre, however, the song unfolds in an unpredictable
way, offering us an atmospheric and beautiful instrumental passage that contrasts
but complements the aggressive main tone. The fury persist on the next song, Just Run, that has powerful and catchy riffs that blend very well with the
vocals.
The ability to create guitar textures that are melodic,
atmospheric and catchy without spoiling the roots of hardcore metal is maintained
along the ten songs, The guitars are played by Mikel Amundarain and Julen
Adariz.
As stated earlier, there are atmospheric and melancholic moments
created by guitars in songs like Love is Rage, Museu Ibiltaria (with vocals in
basque) and Poison Cliff.
The vocals by Julen Sarasua are solid and emotional without
being generic as it sometimes happens in bands of this genre.
It’s a solid debut LP that showcases an interesting and
creative band in the metallic hardcore scene.
