Eis!

- KOMUSU- KOMUSU
- 4 WAY SPLIT com EF’IL, MASSA NERA, THISISMENOTTHINKINGOFYOU e YO SBRAITO
- SNAG/SWALLOW NEST split

Doing nothing for others is the undoing of ourselves e Un mal cola de hadas.

We received three bombastic and precious little sonic treasures from Zegema Beach Records and we feel it's imperative to talk about them. They are:

- KOMUSU- KOMUSU
- 4 WAY SPLIT by EF’IL, MASSA NERA, THISISMENOTTHINKINGOFYOU and YO SBRAITO
- SNAG/SWALLOW NEST split

KOMUSU is a japanese screamo band that this year brings us a record of four songs that are emotional, energetic and with the natural ferocity of screamo that offer us true moments of emotional atonement. The name KOMUSU comes from a group of Zen monks that wore reed hoods and played the shakuhachi, a flute made out of bamboo. The music played by this band is somewhat different, however there is a concern in seizing the feelings, transforming them and deliver to the listener a delicate soundscape with the focus on the vocals and the organic music instruments that add to the charm. It's a closely-knit, strong and emotional record that will certainly appeal to screamo and/or emo fans.

4 WAY SPLIT is a record that congregates bands from Italy, Malaysia, USA and UK. We kick off with MASSA NERA, a band from New Jersey, USA that presents us with two songs. Doing nothing for others is the undoing of ourselves and Un mal cola de hadas. It's a very emotional kind of emo with strong screamo influences. Two emotional songs that mix with artistry the tranquil melodies with the fiercer ones. It's a great start for this split. Next, we have THISISMENOTTHINKINGOFYOU that hails from Derby in the UK and that deliver two songs, Somnambulance I and Somnambulance II that complete each other perfectly. it's a well though of kind of screamo, well structured and with many layers. Instrospective and interesting in the way that it organizes the guitar layers and the vocals. It maintains the good energy and keeps the high standard. The band that comes up next, YO SBRAITO comes from Italy and creates an explosive mix of screamo and pure hardcore punk. It gives us three songs that clock around 1 minute and which are, Cosa nostra, Cordanna and Rapina. Three energic songs that even though the short duration manage to create a rich instrumental atmosphere and the fierceness of the vocals, there is also a leaning towards powerviolence. The band that ends this split comes from Malaysia and is called EF'IL, they offer us two songs, Everyone I know is a broken heart and Stockades. It's a mature, complex and instrumentally rich kind of screamo. The vocals are cohesive and strong and combine beautifully with the instruments and melodies of a fierce melancholy. It's the perfect ending for a split that showcases four promising and creative bands of the screamo and emo genre.

SNAG/SWALLOW NEST presents two screamo bands. SNAG is from Wisconsin, USA and SWALLOW NEST from Dunedin in New Zealand. SNAG delivers a song called Violence that like the title implies is a strong sonic assault. Widely melodic and with captivating guitar lines, various vocals that aid to the instrumentals's ferocity in a song that clock around 5 minutes and that gives us enough diversity to stay tuned. There is also space for calmer passages with spoken word that carry pure introspection that is typical of the intelligent kind of emo.

The band from New Zealand, SWALLOW NESTS, offer us two songs, Dark Hamz and Apathy as an infinite manifestation. Both songs have addictive and extremely melodic guitar lines. The vocals are typical screamo with a strong emo influence. A band that manages to create the perfect alchemy between melancholy, grief and rebellion. It's a well balanced split that presents to us two bands that complement each other and that elevate the standards of the emo and screamo spectrum of our times.
