REMOTE VIEWING

“Cull your memory /Impossible/ Lower your lungs/ Lungs don’t work anymore/ Or a hearse/ We’re dead anyway/ So extra vehicles would be appreciated”

Remote Viewing is a band from London in the UK. The band is formed by ex-members of bands such as Palehorse, Million Dead and I want you dead. The name origins from an interesting concept in the study of the paranormal that acts like some kind of visual telepathy in which we can see objects and geographically distant landscapes through our mind. These concepts unite science with magic and it attracted some research from the C.I.A during the 90’s. The record has seven songs of a mature and original kind of post-hardcore and some doom influences. The record was released last month and listening to it now it’s like the adrenaline we get when we jump out of a ravine and dive into the water. The record starts off with Suitcase full of exposure, a som that has doom and sludge influences, with slow guitar riffs played by Tom Fowler and James Bryant that complement the tortured vocals by Nikolai Von Stieglitz. Fuck a church is a shorter song but with wonderful drumming by Dimitrus Sakellariou. It’s a pure post-hardcore song that precedes Sonic Eutanasia, equally fierce, melodic and intense. Pelican’t is as nihilistic melodically as its lyrics:

“Cull your memory /Impossible/ Lower your lungs/ Lungs don’t work anymore/ Or a hearse/ We’re dead anyway/ So extra vehicles would be appreciated”

Limbs to fold and Whitney Houston we have a problem are the longest songs of the record, clocking above the 7 minutes and in which the doom influences are huge, especially in velocity of the guitars or the bass lines played by John Atkins. The last song of the record, Tastes of nothing, is an attack of post-hardcore that comprises all the nihillism and ferocity of the band. It’s a band that with this record stands out in the crowded scene of the post-hardcore.
