- TRANSLATION -

Samples, beats and flow are the three main elements in which hip-hop music is based and that make him on of the more ecletic genres in our musical spectrum. The lyrics can be introspective, of heavy social critique or an apparent abstract lyrical flow filled with poetic images.

From Barcelona comes Pablaw, an hip-hop producer originally from Marseille (France) but that currently lives in Spain.

Umami is his most recent record and besides being multidimensional, is challenging due to the amount of layers and influences it displays, ranging from jazz, to world music and soul. It was that eclectic and diverse character that inspired the name for the record. Umami is the perfect convergence of several contrasting sounds that harmonize while becoming a whole.

The album was produced by Pablaw with the collaborations of Zlato and Bren. Sang in French, a language that adapts almost naturally to the innate structural rhythms of hip-hop, Umami is Pablaw’s second record that distinguishes itself by the stylistic variety in each theme. Kwassa (Feat. Bren) is one of the highlights by the rhythms of some middle-eastern influence and by a flow that is amazingly melodic in the midst of the samples and beats. Refléxion faite (Feat. Bren) has beats of a more combative nature with a subtle oriental influence.

Each theme has a defined and charismatic quality and they all unite to create a challenging and wholesome record that will certainly appeal to fans of hip-hop that does not conform or choose the conventional.
