Julien Papen, a swiss musician, presents to us a sonic world of hyperactive neurosis with influences that range from garage, old school british punk, indie, psych, nervous post-punk and some timid flirtation with no wave. All that combined creates a truly different kind of beast.
We can say that we are going through a confusing and unpredictable state of affairs, the pandemic appeared in our world that is seldom confusing and random. Some neurosis, gain a huge dimension, as well as certain fears. The lyrics in World KO may represent caleidoscopic fragments of Man in conflict with his internal world in a habitat that is becoming more unpredictable as each day goes bv.
Listening to themes like Low Baterry, we can travel in time back to the 80's of deconstructed melodies with catchy yet cerebral riffs and synths. The repetition within the riiffs accompany vocals that are spoken and sung, the Man as an emotional robot, the subtle automated no wave blends with the sunny vivacity of garage rock and create the external revolution of the sonic narrator of the song.
World KO is constructed by melodies both straight-forward and complex that are sustained by a diy and very punk attitude.
